In March 2005, after seven years with the company, we had an unexpected downsizing within my department and I soon found myself with a nice severance package and time on my hands. It was at that point I decided to move back to Pawleys Island, a seaside community in South Carolina where I grew up. Once back in Pawleys I soon realized that this side business could actually become a full-time business – and so my new career began!
Of course, I had a lot to learn in a short amount of time. Although YouTube started that same year, they did not have any “How To…” videos for web design yet, so I bought books on how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver, HTML, and basic website design, all of which were Greek to me. But I muddled through and became skilled at my new craft and soon my client portfolio began to grow. It was approximately two years later that I was able to add printing to the list of services I could offer my clients, both current and new.
Now all these years later, I am still going strong providing web, print and graphic design to help my clients meet their business growth objectives. The only difference is that we are now based out of beautiful Greenville, South Carolina, instead of Pawleys Island. Yes, it was a tough call to make but after much counsel, and even much more prayer, I made the decision to move and relocate my life and business to the upstate of South Carolina!
Yes, our location may have changed but one thing still remains – my team and I at De’zin FX will never compromise on quality; we realize the excellence of our work is the backbone of our business.
